Eastern Oregon Regional Theatre Sets the Stage By Eugene Stackle
For over seven years, Eastern Oregon Theater fondly known as EORT, has
been looking for a place to call home. Since that time, founders Lynne
Burroughs and Abby Dennis have produced over 20 plays. Included in their
extensive repertoire, are musicals, dramas, comedies, dinner theaters and one of a
kind road shows. This transient troupe of thespians, have enthralled audiences with
their raw talent and unsinkable passion for the performing arts.
Previously sequestered in various locations and under a large inflatable shell in the
summer, they continued to delight audiences
through all kinds of weather with elaborate hand sewn costumes, creative
set design, expert directing, and natural acting aptitude. Today the search
is over. This once vagabond theatre group has found a permanent home
located in the Basche-Sage Mall in Historic Downtown Baker City
Oregon.
Situated behind a large wrought iron gate, personas conjured up by would-be and seasoned actors alike await the next incantation of characters. When the Iron Gate Theatre begins each season, you can be sure the actors will delight and entertain as well as -“break a leg!”
